Planet-Ready Packaging by InterFlex

To help brands and retailers reach their sustainability goals, InterFlex Group focused on investing in the right assets, people and capabilities. We have actively contributed to projects such as REFLEX to deepen our expertise and increase our understanding of the challenges brands, retailers and the value chain face.

The REFLEX project was a collaboration of the whole value chain, from polymer production, packaging manufacturers, global brand owners, to waste management and recycling companies. InterFlex Group worked with partners in the REFLEX project such as Amcor, Dow Chemical Company, Nestlé UK, SUEZ, TOMRA Sorting and Unilever.

“The two-year research project took into account the commercial value of materials recovered by the recycling process and demonstrated that attractive yields of recycled materials could be achieved. The project has addressed many technical challenges in establishing an infrastructure to collect, sort and recycle polyolefinic flexible packaging in the UK. For example, along with improvement of flexible packaging designs, the project looked at digital watermarking on packaging that is suitable for mechanical recycling and the use and enhancement of near infra-red sorting technologies.”

Our work in the REFLEX project enabled InterFlex Group to gain an advantage on sustainable solutions. Since then REFLEX became CEFLEX, a consortium that aims to bring the entire value chain together to tackle the complex technical and business barriers to a circular economy. They are proving instrumental in policy development for Europe & wider packaging community. InterFlex Group are proud to be part of CEFLEX.

To help our customers meet end consumer needs, whilst also ensuring product protection and customer convenience we have increased InterFlex Group’s technical capability and opened a new Technology Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. It provides a focal point where the Technical (R&D) Teams can interact closely in order to efficiently drive innovation and provide solutions for our customers.

By building product technology and service expertise on customer focussed applications we’re able to offer recyclable packaging alternatives. Our expertise in barrier applications also means we’re able to offer recyclable solutions across the whole gamut of flexible packaging.

We are responsive, flexible and customer focussed. In most cases, we’re able to tailor solutions to match or surpass current functional requirements. We are confident that our R&D will deliver the necessary package innovation in our Planet-Ready Packaging range that helps brands and retailers reach their targets and fulfill the increased consumer demand for sustainable packaging.

Thanks to the dedication and tireless work of thousands of brand owners, retailers, supply chain members, and our team around the world, the flexible packaging industry is making progress. Although there are many challenges to address, together we can remain on track, meet 2025 sustainability commitments and keep a growing population safe, healthy and fed.
